A delightful farm estate in Bradfield, West Berkshire that's home to a community of small businesses.

THE HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT OF HEWINS WOOD FARM

Hewins Wood Farm was purchased by our family in the late 1970s and established as a pig breeding farm. Some 10 years later a policy of farm diversification was adopted, which resulted in some of the buildings used for livestock becoming workshops. Over time this developed and by 1990 all livestock had gone and a number of business owners were running their businesses using facilities at the farm.

For several years businesses were purely of an engineering or mechanical nature.  In recent years there has been more of a mix in the type of business activity, with some workshops now being occupied by independent artisans and craft type businesses.

Today we have a wide range of high-quality business concepts operating from the site, including some such as Oakleaf Garden Machinery, which has been with us for some 30 years and then West Berkshire Storage, more recently established by our daughter and her husband.

OUR OBJECTIVES TODAY

The purpose of Hewins Wood Farm is to offer business owners a pleasant, rural environment from which to operate and develop their business activities. We are privileged to be located on the edge of Bradfield village in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Pang Valley.

My wife, Ruth, and I live on-site and enjoy being part of the business community in the yard. Our objective is to have a happy working community of successful businesses operating in a professional environment where it is a pleasure to welcome clients and engage with each other in a helpful, cooperative way.

We continually seek to serve the local community with a multiplicity of products and services in a way that is in keeping with this beautiful environment and moving forward it is our objective to ever further enhance the quality and service provision at Hewins Wood Farm.
